12 Kirk Hinrich PG 6-3 190 Jan 2, 1981 College: Kansas
Captain Kirk took a huge step back last season. His handles were significantly impaired from a combination of a hand injury
and a season-long mental lapse. His numbers of 11.5 points per game, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds were all career lows for
the Bulls’ gritty point guard. His three point percentage dropped significantly from the year before (from 41.5 percent to 35 percent)
and his overall field goal percentage dropped as well 9from 44.8 percent to 41.4 percent).
His place on the team was put into immediate question with the drafting of Derrick Rose. Although he just signed a five year deal,
Hinrich’s time with the Bulls does not appear to be long. This season will probably see him in the starting role slowly handing over
the starting job to Rose. A healed hand and new sense of purpose will probably see Hinrich play much better this next season, but
that might not be reflected in the numbers as he will be sharing court time with the rookie.
