90 Drew Gooden PF 6-10 250 Sep 24, 1981 College: Kansas
Drew Gooden has been bounced around during his career, starting in Memphis, then going to Orlando, then to Cleveland,
and finally landing on the Bulls after the Ben Wallace trade in the middle of the season last year.
The power forward gave the Bulls a low post presence at times, but mainly used his short jumper to average 14
points a game in 18 games with Chicago.
Gooden rebounded well, pulling down 9.4 boards a game. The mental lapses and the love for the jumper that have marred
his career so far made appearances last season, but in a season with an entire team in a daze the lapses did not
exactly stand out and the fact that he shot 46.1 percent from the field made the Bulls fans
willing to forgive a series of poorly advised shots. Gooden has averaged similar numbers throughout his career,
but may improve significantly this season as the lack of front court depth and the fact that this is a contract season
will surely boost his play.
