1 Derrick Rose PG 6'3" - 190lbs, Oct 4, 1988 College: Memphis
Derrick Rose is coming home after one year away in Memphis. He led the team to the NCAA Championship game in his
only season before going pro. Although the Tigers lost, his play down the stretch as the team ended up losing to
Kansas in overtime, but won 38 games over the course of the 40 game season. His numbers (14.9 PPG, 4.7 APG, 4.5 RPG)
do not do justice to the effect he had on the team. That effect, the leadership specifically, caught the attention
of the Chicago Bulls.
As a rookie he will not be forced to start in the hardest position on the floor to learn. Hinrich provides a nice
cushion that will allow Rose to make mistakes without too much pressure (apart from all the fans who bought
tickets to see him play). His jumper and especially his long range shot will have to improve, but his innate
playmaking ability make him the Chicago Bulls best shot for a trophy filled future.
