The Charter One Pavilion is a unique outdoor concert hall that is assembled every spring on the grounds on Northernly Island in Chicago that once was the home to Meigs Field general aviation airport. The small island in Chicago that serves as the location of the pavilion is actually a nature preserve so every fall, after the great concerts of the spring and summer, the structure comes down.
The unique private-public entertainment complex is a partnership between the Chicago Park District and Clear Channel Entertainment. The temporary lease the joint project holds will help establish a nature park at the site on the Northernly Island peninsula. While the lease remains active, art and music lovers will be given the chance to enjoy unique shows. The Charter One Pavilion is designed to have 7,500 seats available for tickets to these seasonal shows.
